With all the time he spends in the pool, it would make sense for
Michael Phelps to date a fellow swimmer. But the eight-time Beijing gold medalist insists he is not hooking up with his teammate Amanda Beard, contrary to Internet rumors.
"No, I'm not dating Amanda Beard. I'll say that. I think she has a boyfriend," Phelps told
Extra, referencing Beard's photographer beau Sacha Brown.
While he's happy to debunk rumors, the 23-year-old remained coy about his actual dating status.
"Part of my life is kept to myself. I'm able to relax and be with my friends," he said. "Those pretty much are the only people who really know the answer to that question."
If Phelps - who thinks it's "pretty cool" Carrie Underwood has a crush on him - is currently off the market, his gal pal may very well be blonde. Asked who would play his leading lady in a movie of his life, the pool shark didn't hesitate to answer Cameron Diaz.
"Cameron Diaz seems pretty cool," he said. "She seems like she has a cool personality." -
