September 12, 2006: Blu Mondae
I figured right away that I'd like this episode after I heard "Hot Child in the City" by Nick Gilder (a song I've performed at several karaoke joints here in L.A.) being played at the strip club that Christian was frequenting. Oh, Christian.
Brooke Shields suggested he might be gay last week so, of course, he heads to the strippers. We all knew that as soon as Blu Mondae (former Playboy playmate
Angela Little) found out Christian was a plastic surgeon, they'd be in bed together, and, poof cut to them doin' the nasty. Great line: "No pro bono for boning a pro." Kudos to writers
Lyn Greene and Richard Levine. (That was the other indication that I'd like the show tonight. since, as I've mentioned before, I admire their work.)
Adding to Christian's frustration was young stud-muffin Mitchell Skinner (effectively played by
Thad Luckinbill from
The Young and the Restless) coming onto him after Christian gave him money just to tide him over. "I'm not gay!" screamed Christian. I tend to believe him. In fact, I think the only man Christian is sexually attracted to is... Christian (while he's looking in the mirror). I found it interesting that
Richard Chamberlain played a former sculptor's model who wanted McNamara/Troy to give his boy toy Mitchell plastic surgery so he could look like a younger version of himself. Rumor has it that
Liberace did the same thing with
his boy toys. Notice how I wrote "rumor has it" the last thing I need is the estate of Liberace coming at me with a lawsuit.
While I'm mentioning possible lawsuits, I can just imagine how mad
Tom Cruise (who I like to call Angry Spice) and all of the Scientologists were after they watched or heard about this episode. When Kimber was subtly trying to get Matt to join the cult she was in, my roommate Jason muttered, "I bet she's a Scientologist! "Uh-huh," said I. Leave it to Matt to get even creepier than he was last season. Between
John Hensley (Matt) and
Julian McMahon, can I just say, "I'll take bad male eyebrows on television for $500, Alex." Yikes. Unfortunately, Julia gave Matt the money he needed to become a Scientologist (or as Christian put it tonight, a brain sucker). Christian continued being "
Bad Luck Schleprock" since his ex-girlfriend has become chums with his son.
Elsewhere, it was inevitable that Sean was going to want to perform surgery on his and Julia's future son, Connor. Having their daughter, Annie, prepare for the baby by removing most of the fingers on her dolls was poignant. Hey, it's got to be exciting for the young actress who plays her,
Kelsey Lynn Batelaan. She finally had something to do besides ask "What's for dinner, mama?" or recite her lines from
Puss 'n Boots. While I'm mentioning Sean and surgery, I was glad I wasn't eating while Sean was cutting into his patient Alex's deformed face. But
Nate Mooney was awesome as Alex, his best line was, "My online girlfriend's giving me carpal tunnel."
Continuing in the "
Nip/Tuck is the new
Will & Grace" tradition, the plethora of guest stars just kept pouring in. Besides the aforementioned thespians, we got the ravishing
Jacqueline Bisset tonight as the mysterious vixen from Michelle's (
Sanaa Lathan) past, feeling up Michelle in the parking lot and making out with her in full view of the hiding-behind-the-stairs Liz (
Roma Maffia). Well that just screams juicy night-time soap to me! Why was Michelle handing her the loot? We know Jacqueline's past is quite
deep, but what about her character's? We shall see. Oh, who am I kidding? I already know, but I won't spoil it here. At least we finally found out tonight that Matt did indeed cut off Cherry Peck's pecker. Ouch.
And that Matt rushed Cherry to the hospital (I loved that he referred to Cherry as "his friend" in telling the story to Kimber).
