The Threesome of the Season

Finale Night is finally here! Well the first hour of a three hour send-off is anyway. Can you believe another season is almost over? It seems like just yesterday that Penn and Monica were stinking up the place! I am very excited to see what the final three have in store for us tonight. I also heard there is going to be a twist so I am eager to see how it all unfolds. Now as much as I enjoy being Public Enemy #1 around here, let's put all the drama from last week aside and sit down for one last D-List meal together. Sound good? Well, like your mama said, you can't leave the table until your finished so pull up a chair and feast on tonight's show!

The Cha-Cha Face Off
So the twist tonight was that all three finalists danced to the same song: "Dancing on the Ceiling" by Lionel Richie. When I heard about a group dance earlier this afternoon, I thought they would all be on the floor at the same time like they do in official ballroom competitions. I haven't seen a lot of ballroom competitions, but from what I understand that is how they work. Even though it didn't work out that way, I think I'd like to see them attempt it next season. That would bring an interesting element into the show. Not only do they have to execute a good routine, but they have to stay out of the other's way. But in this version, the finalists took turns and I found it highly entertaining. It even ended with a lift that all of them participated in! Here is how it broke down:

" Cristián, of course, did a great cha-cha. His shirt being open didn't hurt either. Is it me or has he gotten better since his injury? It's like something woke up inside him that really inspired him to give it his all. I wouldn't mind at all if he took home the trophy.

" Jason mentioned in the pre-dance how his height works against him and I wonder if that's the awkwardness I've been seeing in him all along. Sometimes I don't think his movements are very fluid and it could be because of his height. Maybe dancing is easier for men of a shorter stature. If you notice, most of the pro men aren't extremely tall.

" Kristi started her part of the cha-cha off by kissing Bruno and she must have caught him by surprise because his mouth was totally open when she did it. I cracked up. It was one of those priceless spur of the moment moments and it pretty much made my whole night! There is not much to say about her dance because it was phenomenal. She was the winner of this round. Loved that flapper-esque dress she had on!

Freestyle Round

" Kristi - I don't know what it is, but she's got it! Plenty of lifts, twists and flips yet it didn't overpower the funky hip-hop/mambo (according to Bruno) groove they had going on. I said before that Mark has the tendency to over dance and although that is not a bad thing at all, it does take my eye off Kristi a bit and she's the one being judged. He sure knows how to moonwalk though.
Freestyle 30 She's perfect for the night!

" Jason - I didn't realize he had a family! How cute were his kids? And quite the MILF he has for a wife! Dancing to "Miami" by Will Smith, Jason really showed that he's probably a better regular dancer than a ballroom dancer. It was always obvious he had rhythm and a natural ability to dance, but the hip-hop feel of this routine brought out a side to him I haven't seen yet. He seemed more comfortable to me and he showed off that body of his which is always a good thing! I wouldn't mind coming across him in a club because he definitely has some moves!

" Cristián - I know you all realize this, but I have to reiterate that he's only using one arm! He's like the drummer from Def Leppard! That's killer. He can't do the kinds of lifts the others were doing so I'm hoping it doesn't hurt his scores. His freestyle wasn't so much a freestyle as it was just a looser version of a Latin dance. It was great, but I don't think it was much different than what we saw from him in previous weeks. The other two finalists took a different approach and that made his dance a bit less exciting for me. I hate to say it, but I think he lost that round not on technique and appeal but on originality and creativity.

Well tonight was a fast hour! I think it's quite clear that Kristi is the one to beat. In fact, if she's not holding that trophy tomorrow night something went really wrong. I wouldn't hesitate to cheer if Cristián pulled it out, but he might need a miracle. He was a trooper though. It couldn't have been easy for him since he ruptured his tendon. I wonder what he would have been like had he never injured himself? Despite being just a point behind Cristián, I think Jason is the long shot. If someone other than Kristi is winning I think Cristián has a better chance. What do you think? Is tomorrow night Kristi's night or will one of the guys steal it away? Which freestyle was your favorite? Should a group dance for scores become a regular event next season? Share your thoughts below and stop back tomorrow as we wrap up the season!
