Dancing with the Stars Episode Recap: Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008

Tuesday on Dancing with the Stars, the judges chose Warren and Kym's tango to see again, which allows me another opportunity to share a Peter Gunn-related memory. I had a roommate in college who was dating a girl for whom the Peter Gunn theme was, how shall we say, mood music. Funny, right? But you want to know who made the semifinals, and who is out, right?

Did Cody just say that Julianne made him a man? I knew it! It's good to see Julianne return, but I fear it may be Cody's last week. Say it isn't so?

Brad Paisley, who will cohost the Country Music Association Awards on ABC Wednesday, performs his single "Ticks," as Lacey and her brother Benji Schwimmer do some ballroom-style boot-scootin'. I'm thinking Paisley could have shaved for his national television appearance, but I'm guessing that's what my boss is thinking about me most days, so there you go. Lacey and Benji are certainly an energetic pair, aren't they? Is it just me that thinks that some of their more gymnastic moves aren't sibling-appropriate? If so, I'll just get back in my schooner and sail back to Plymouth, circa-1620, and give some Native Americans smallpox or something.

The people in the crowd have their favorites. That is all.

Let's check out the standings, shall we?

4.Maurice and Cheryl
4. Cody and Edyta
3. Lance and Lacey
2. Warren and Kym
1. Brooke and Derek

Warren and Kym are... SAFE!
Lance and Lacey are... SAFE!

They're in the semifinals!

Uh-oh, Dr. Drew is in the house! Lacey needs a positive mental attitude, and they need to let each other have their emotions. Warren doesn't even know the word stress, even with his busy schedule. Maurice is clearly a victim of verbal and emotional abuse.

Now Julianne and Derek dance a jive to "Great Balls of Fire" in the Macy's Stars of Dance performance, which is apparently based on viewers' votes. It's fun, and I'm glad to see her up and around. Also, I'm happy for the costume contest winner, but in my book any piece of clothing that depicts a piano has been a bad idea since 1984, which, coincidentally, is the last time my skinny piano tie saw the light of day. Ah, Toni Basil, thanks for making that school dance a memory!

Meanwhile, back at Dr. Drew's office... Brooke can't deal with insult and disrespect, Derek! Cody is having a legit moment. Oh God, this is painful to watch! He made Cody and Julianne CRY! They're totally the Blubberson Twins! Why, Dr. Drew, WHY?! Sure, Julianne's tears have healing properties and soften the skin of even ogres, but still!

The Berge snarks that Barbara Walters is "so jealous right now." I think he means because her supply of Julianne's tears is running low, right?

Brad Paisley is back to sing "Let the Good Times Roll," from his album Play, while Maks, Karina, Alec, Edyta, Kym and someone else (named Mazo?) dance. I'm not much of a contemporary country fan, so... Maks' hair has grown quite a bit since his last appearance, yes? Discuss. Oh wait, Maks is here to discuss it himself. "What happened to your hair?" asks The Berge. "Cut it," grunts Maks.

Now, kids, it's time to discuss the anatomy of the dancer. Good gravy. F to the iller!

Maurice and Cheryl are... IN JEOPARDY!
Brooke and Derek are... SAFE!
Cody and Edyta are... IN JEOPARDY!

Maurice and Cheryl are... OUT!
Which means... Cody and now Julianne are SAFE!

Maurice is gracious, and Cheryl pays tribute to her hard-working partner. And then he danced with his adorable daughter. Aw.
Louis Says: "It was pretty emotional with Cody and Julianne [in the Dr. Drew segment]. That's what I had with Lisa in Season 2. It was just really humbling, and I thought, they're not going home. So I'm not surprised that Maurice was eliminated. With what happened with Cody and Julianne this week, I don't know if they're going to throw anything new in the mix next week. But I still think it's going to be Lance, Warren and Brooke in the finals, as much as I think Cody deserves it. Warren has done great, and his fan base is huge. They all have something special."

So what do you think? Did Maurice and Cheryl deserve to go home? Who's your favorite to win now?
