Season Finale

"By golly, it's either Evel or Evel Spawn that's gonna win." That about sums it up, Dustin. I have to guess that the toughest part of being on this particular Big Brother jury is looking back at all the wasted opportunities they had to evict the Donato-nators. In the words of runner-up Daniele, it must be so "frusterating"!

It has been an interesting, entertaining but, generally, predictable summer in the Big Brother house, so I was really excited that we ended with an unexpected victory. I thought for sure that the jury would reward Daniele for her skill in the competitions (Jen and Jameka agreed with that philosophy, though I think their votes were more about personally disliking Evel Dick than the game itself). I don't know if it was Eric's impressive ability to sway the jury or their own acknowledgement of being thoroughly played, but Dick emerged victorious over his offspring. After looking back at a number of episodes courtesy of my DVR, I grudgingly agree that of the two, Dick was the one who deserved it more. He was truly the architect of the alliance and he was the one who put himself out there to be vilified. I didn't like his strategy, but it worked. It seems that in this case, "Evel" really did prevail!

It was fun to watch the interviews with the final two and the jury deliberations. For most of the players, it was determining the lesser of two "Evels." (OK, that was the last pun, I promise.) I think Amber made that crystal clear in her little speech, but she really went after Daniele with a vengeance, questioning her morality in the Nick situation. (Amber, seriously, for someone who claims to be such a religious person, you clearly don't know the part in the Bible about casting the first stone.) I wasn't surprised to see that Daniele's boyfriend was MIA, but I would love someone to clarify what actually happened. At one point he appeared in a segment voicing concern over Daniele's relationship with Nick but certainly not stating in any way that things were over between them. Were there indications from Daniele that the relationship was really over? I thought I saw someone post that she had broken up with the guy, yet that seems incongruous with what I've seen in other places. C'mon, live feeders, spill it - what was the real deal?

The show itself was pretty much filler until those last suspenseful moments, but it is always nice to see the returning players who did not make the jury cut, especially early evictees who look so well rested and relieved that they didn't have to live with these people for three months. The unveiling of the America's Player twist kind of fizzled from a viewing perspective, though I think that the houseguests were appropriately surprised by that turn of events. (I was amused watching Amber's deer-in-headlights reactions, like it was taking her just a little bit longer to catch on.) And how about Jessica. Did she look pissed or what? And Eric looked like he wanted to crawl under the chair. Someone's got some 'splaining to do. Hopefully everyone will have some drinks at the CBS after-party and is willing to forgive and forget.

I guess there's not too much more to say except it has been an absolute blast hosting the Big Brother blog this summer. We didn't always agree but that's half the fun, right? As for me, I'll be blogging for Lost when it returns from its extended hiatus this winter. But first, I'll be kicking off the new season with ER. Make sure to stop by and chat. Otherwise, see you next summer!
