Episode 7: Hour 1 Recap
At the start of this week's 2-hour finale of
Who Wants to be a Superhero, we were left with Hygena, Hyper-Strike, and The Defuser duking it out for the title. When Dr. Dark unleashed a super-sized evil Stan Lee on the city, it was up to the final three heroes to save the day once again. Despite the mission seeming to be as simple as cutting off the giant robot's power source, our man Stan couldn't really make it that easy for the final 3 combatants. Instead, he decided to take this opportunity to bust out a little test that seemed to be a fan favorite from back in season 1; the attack dogs.
Suited up in plenty of extra cushioning to fend off the nasty bites of 3 seemingly untrained beasts, the heroes had quite the time trying to destroy their latest foe. After volunteering herself as bait, Hygena was able to distract one of the psycho dogs buying her teammates a little more time to find a way to destroy the giant's power supply. Shortly after however, psycho dog # 2 played a game of tug-o-war with The Defuser's forearm but allowed for Hyper-strike to search for something that would help complete their task. When Hyper-Strike failed to find anything useful in an abandoned truck, psycho dog # 3 was sent out after the heroes and decided to join his brother trying to bite off a chunk from The Defuser. Nonetheless, even with the weight of two hungry dogs on his arms, The Defuser gathered all of his strength and completed the mission for the team. For all of the negative comments I have made about The Defusers in past blogs, this week he def. had me questioning whether the season's grand prize was going straight to Hyper-Strike.
Following the physically exhausting mission, Stan Lee suprised the trio with a special field trip and a glimpse of the action figures based on their characters. They were given a few minutes to play around with their new toys before being shipped off to their next suprise mission. The heroes were told to make their way to a location which turned out to be the set of a reality tv talk show hosted by old-school MTV VJ, Kennedy. Although the heroes believed they were going to be filming a segment with Kennedy to be broadcast at a later date, sneaky Stan had other plans. Throughout their entire stay at the studio, the gang was being tested on how much they reveal not only to Kennedy but to the whole crew who worked with them on the shoot.
By the end of the first hour, the three remaining heroes displayed both great strength and weakness going into elimination. They all showed great bravery against those flesh-hungry dogs but a terrible weakness for running their mouths off and giving up too much personal information. Regardless, Stan Lee saw potential in all of them to be this season's victor and decided to give them all a shot at the crown in hour 2 of the finale.
