March 27, 2007: It's Hard Being the Oldest

First of all, let me start off by saying some of these girls looked like crap this week. I'm very surprised that they let the cameras catch them without makeup, slamming down take-out, looking all raggedy. Of course, I know it's "real" and that's what happens, but on most shows like this, it seems the ladies make it a point to look their best even in their sleep. Of course, there aren't men in the house to impress (oh, and the guys do it too... it's not just a female thing).

If you haven't watched it yet, I apologize for giving the ending away before I talk about the show itself, but I'm so happy Sisely is gone! I liked her at the beginning but she got real annoying, real quick. I will miss some of the great statements that she spouts, though, such as: "It's hard being the oldest." She's 24! And what made it harder for her than the rest of the girls? Despite what she thought, she was no more mature than the other girls and her experience didn't get her the job, nor did her age have anything to do with her getting sent packing. But I thought the best line from her was near the end when she said that the "hair and shoes were distracting." Why in the world are you trying out for this group then? I've never once seen a current member of the Pussycat Dolls without "The Hair" or "The Shoes," so getting used to that might be a good idea.

As for the rest of the girls, again I thought Chelsea did a great job. She did what Robin asked her to do, which was step up and be a leader. She sang Evelyn "Champagne" King's "Shame" very well and she really was in sync with the routine.

I agreed with the judges that Asia did really well on Thelma Houston's "Don't Leave Me This Way," but her "I don't want to be a leader" attitude probably has to improve for her to win this contest. Though, as we've all said throughout the weeks, does she actually need to be a leader? If she truly would be No. 7 in the group, what leadership qualities does she really need? Whether she becomes one or not, I really just think it's bad to portray the poor attitude like that when you're trying to impress people.

The other great performance of the night was from Mariella. She was so boring during "Shame," but she didn't have to do much because of the great show she put on during the challenge. Robin asked them to put together a sexy dance routine. To me, Sisely got close, but Mariella was the only one that really hit the nail on the head with this challenge. Mariella was not only sexy, but really sensual as well. Personally, I don't find her all that attractive, but I'd pay to see her move like that. Very hot.

What's very weird about this show is that I'm agreeing with the results. Most reality shows, you just can't understand why people stay or go - *cough* Sanjaya *cough* - but with this one, the ones that do poor in the competitions are the ones that leave. I suppose it has a lot to do with the fact that I don't get to vote, but it's still a little funky to me that the results have been pretty predictible so far.

Next week. Catfights? Throwdowns? Yeah!

Until next week, friends.
