April 24, 2007: And the Winner Is...
It's over, my friends. Pussycat Doll No. 7 has officially been named and, frankly, I'm a little shocked by the decision.
Clearly, my favorite has been Chelsea for a while now. I thought Chelsea did great with the group track and was dead-on with the vocals on "Feelin' Good." But she was given the slowest song on the PCD disc to sing, meaning she really didn't have to dance. And as many times as her dancing was mentioned this season, you could see she wasn't going to win it.
Now although Chelsea was my favorite, I did mention a few weeks ago that my pick to win it all was Melissa. And based on this episode, she should have. She was the perfect package. I thought her performance of "Stickwitu" was possibly her best of the entire show. The judges thought she was the whole package, except Ron thought she had a deer-in-headlights look. That must have been something we didn't see on camera, because it didn't look like that at all to me.
And then there's Asia. She spent the entire episode yelling and crying. She and Melissa dropped the f-bomb like a dozen times in a minute at each other; and when Asia wasn't screaming, she was crying about her daughter. When she started back up with Melissa in the practice studio, the glazed look on Mikey's face was priceless. I hated her singing "I Don't Need a Man" but that's not even important. I really don't understand why Robin or the other six girls would want someone with such an attitude. And, is she bringing her child with her on tour? If not, is every night going to be spent crying over her? I somehow get the feeling that Robin didn't know about the fight the night before. I'm surprised she never brought it up, and she did state at the end how she could start a girl group with the three of them. If I saw that fight, I wouldn't want them to see each other ever again.
So my order would have been:
1. Melissa
2. Chelsea
3. Asia
Naturally, the opposite of my opinion is the one that's right!
Just two other notes before I end the final blog of the series:
1. I couldn't get over the cut of Lil' Kim's dress. From the side, it looked like she had nothing covering her. Heck, from the front it looked like nothing was covering her, either. The dress certainly didn't flatter her doctor's work.
2. Since Asia doesn't like fake people, I wonder what she thinks of Mark McGrath? I was definitely happy to see a tie on tonight - and not around a white T-shirt - but I'm even happier that the McGrathbot is out of my life for good now.
Overall, a guilty pleasure show. It certainly could have been worse. Certainly could have been better.
Thanks to everyone that read and/or commented during the short run of this show!
