“Rings of Glory”

Before I start, if any of you missed our Q&A with Emily Brandle, check it out! Okay, on to tonight's show. Well who knew that the boogie down Bronx was home to the Armory, an extremely large track and field center. Apolo Ohno whisked around the corner to announce the next challenge. The designers, in true NBC synergy fashion, would have to create an outfit for the opening ceremony of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, aptly airing this Friday night and I mean only thousands of millions of billions of people are going to be watching according to Blayne. The Armory also housed an Olympic museum, which for better or worse, inspired many of the contestants to go retro in their designs.

After a drama-licious filled trip to Mood, the contestants headed back to Parsons where Stella started to frighten me between her "this is business, no joke" attitude and description of creating a "bold, progressive and aerodynamic outfit like a gladiator" comment. Meanwhile, everyone decides to share in what sports they played. While Leanne was a cheerleader and Joe played football, Blayne says his sport is tanning and Daniel, well, he is not much of an athlete. I hate when the designers act like a challenge is beneath them. Daniel was "confused" since sports aren't quite his thing and he's only into high end glamour which this challenge has nothing to do with it. Get over yourself and use your imagination like everyone else!

Is it me or does every season seem to include some sort of laugh montage. I believe it was Andre one season, last season was our own Chris March and this season was Kenley who has started to drive her fellow designers a tad bit crazy. Speaking of crazy, there's more design drama when Daniel re-threads Joe's machine leading to the contender for best (and by best I mean worst) comment of the night, Joe's "Too much drama because there are too many queens."

On the runway Heidi announces the judges, including Apolo Ohno who's apparently the most stylish Olympic Gold medal winnerever! That's a pretty bold statement. The runway show was good overall. I actually really liked everyone's outfits, just maybe not entirely for the task at hand. I described Terri's as sharp even before Nina Garcia said the same thing! I was a little disappointed that the judges didn't like Jennifer's outfit. I know it was totally off for the challenge but I liked it in a Banana Republic sort of way. I thought Daniel's model looked a little Betty Boop and Michael Kors had the best quote of the night regarding his outfit. "I don't know where she's from, the Republic of Cocktail land?" Jerell's model looked quite ridiculous as did his and hers hat. I loved Nina's puzzled "Mary had a little lamb" comment. After all was judged Korto was victorious over Joe, who I thought deserved the win, but I must say she's a serious contender for this season. Jennifer, not surprisingly, was eliminated after a 2nd weak performance in a row.

Do you think she deserve to be Auf'd? Comment below and let me know your questions for when she stops by our studio for an interview!
