Lincoln Plays a Dangerous Game to Help Michael
Episode Recap: "Fire/Water"
As a longtime
Prison Break fanatic, I'm glad we didn't have to wait long for Michael's resourceful engineer's thinking cap to get switched back on. From the moment he paid special notice to that overhead pipe and the moisture on it, I suspected he was up to something. So while his tattoos may now be defunct as a tool, his noodle keeps on keeping on, in this instance managing to save Luchero's bacon - and Whistler's in the process.
Let's talk about Whistler, as he is this season's walking, talking McGuffin. He was imprisoned for killing the mayor of Panama City, he disappeared into Sona's dank shadows some time ago, and the prisoner who delivered him to the reaper stood to be thanked with a "Get Out of Jail Free" card. And yet Michael, by keeping the Aussie alive, must fight tooth and nail to bust the guy out. Not fair, right? And why does The Company need Whistler in their hands within a week? What's the rush? Is he guest-judging on
Dancing with the Stars?
Mahone cannot be too happy, seeing as his ticket out of Sona got commandeered by Luchero and handed over to Michael. T-Bag - a.k.a.
Theodoro - also looks bad now that the man he branded as a back-stabbing "ssssnake" has saved the day. Back to mangling the mango, Bagwell!
"Susan B. Anthony" has the hypnotic eyes (and favors a younger, drier
Yasmine Bleeth), but her tough-gal act seems a bit forced thus far. I sensed stronger sparks between Lincoln and Sofia - but maybe that was just the "romantic" guitar strums scoring their scene. If she is Whistler's girl (as has been speculated), Linc getting too close to her won't make Michael's bounty too happy.
Bellick finally got some clothes and grub, which is awesome. He worked hard for it. Damn gut tugged my heart with that, "Call my Ma!" plea to Sucre. Sniff.
What do you think of Sucre's decision? Lincoln had a point about keeping the innocent people in your life innocent. It's bittersweet to see Sucre give up on the Maricruz reunion, but at least now maybe he can assist Linc on the outside. (And props to
Camille Gauty for returning, albeit briefly, as MC.)
Some bullets before I go:
" McGrady (the Latino kid) asking Michael if he has ever met Jordan, and Michael responding, No, "It's a big city."
" Do decrepit sewers really have stairway access and overhead lighting?
" I heard a train whistle in the distance at least twice tonight. An eventual part of Michael's escape plan?
" Linc saying to Michael through the fence, "I'd trade places with you in a second" - and you believed him.
" Mahone pegging Sona as "a really strange place.... One I want to get out of."
" Um.... Michael could loosen those rusty pipe nuts with his bare fingers? OK....
So, what's in the book about birds that Linc pinched from Sofia? Deep, dark secrets that Whistler is keeping from The Company? Tune in next week....
