Ghost in the Machine
What is it with the writers for this show? They have been using a lot of song titles lately, but either way, there was certainly more action and intrigue in this episode.
Foss is back, and boy is Kyle upset with him. Kyle wants to know where he was and what he was doing. He does admit that he sent the photos to Declan or Lori, but that is really no surprise. Is Foss really not to be trusted or is there more that meets the eye here? Foss is not helping his case by not coming clean to Kyle.
For some strange reason, Lori wants to go to the spot where Jessi killed the hunter. It ends up being a gang field trip:
Kyle and Declan - who can't seem to stop Lori from going.
Josh and Andy - who just want to do something different.
Jessi - who wants to be near Kyle or Declan, and she is back from being reprogrammed.
Amanda - who notices how Jessi is reacting to Kyle and will not let the two of them be alone. Is there a little jealousy there?
Was that a zing by Andy against Josh? "I thought you would be better at rubbing wood." What did Josh do to upset Andy? Andy tells Josh she has cancer? That would explain her coldness all of a sudden. Josh is really upset, and I think he more than likes Andy. Lori wanders off into the tunnel that leads to the Zzyzx compound.
I don't like the "reprogrammed" Jessi. She seems like a time bomb waiting to go off. Amanda confronts Jessi about her feelings towards Kyle and she uses her psychic energy to bring down the blast doors and do other damage. Lori and Amanda seem to be trapped behind some blast doors. So, what do they do? They bond, while Kyle and Declan bond more.
We keep jumping back to various periods in the past, before Kyle left Zzyzx. It seems that Kern wanted to use Adam's work for defense department purposes and Kyle's conscious refused. To make matters more complicated, the data that Madacorp wants are the files from the the Zzyzx mainframe computer, which somehow Kyle copied into his brain. Interesting concept, it reminds me a bit of
Johnny Mnemonic. Kyle goes back and recovers something from Adam's safe. What is in that box?
Jessi is also having flashbacks. She goes to the "incubation" room and touches the Zzyzx logo that sets off a methane release, I guess like a self-destruct mechanism. Kyle feels that he must go rescue Jessi. Jessi is concerned about what she saw in the compound. Does Kyle realize that Jessi was made by Zzyzx also?
I suspect the box will be a central theme of the next episode. What did you guys think about tonight?
