"Fantasy Island"

It's been too long fellas, but it was good to have you back!

After nearly two seasons of trying to get it made and then trying to get it sold, "Medellin" turned out to be pretty much what we all expected it would be- an unmitigated, "over-acted, under-directed" disaster. The "Hindenburg of a screening" was apparently just a precursor to the film's critical drubbing, including a nasty personal attack on Vince by Richard Roeper, alleged former frat brother of Ari and current persona non grata at the Miller Gold Agency.

And now, it seems that Vince has fallen on tough times- that is, if you define tough times as living a carefree life on the beach in Mexico having sex with multiple, beautiful women, jet-skiing and doing his best Jim Morrison impression. I have to laugh when pampered, reality-deprived Vince makes a statement like, "Life is not all about making money and moviesat least mine isn't." He is completely oblivious to the ironic fact that the allegedly low-maintenance lifestyle he enjoys is enabled by those two very things. Undeterred by a dearth of offers for his acting services, he initially turns his nose up at the badly-titled "Danger Beach," but Eric is finally able to convince Vince not to give up so easily. Feeling responsible for the current situation and not exactly setting the world on fire with his newly-formed management company, he implores Vince to let him "help you get back to where you are supposed to be." Unfortunately, this first attempt at a career comeback turns out to be a ruse, but it does get Vince off the beach.

As is always the case, most of my favorite lines tonight, courtesy of the hysterically caustic Jeremy Piven, are not quotable on a family website. It was great to see Ari back in action, spouting his usual venom and brow-beating poor Lloyd and anyone else within a 12-inch radius. I also enjoyed Johnny's internet chats with Jacqueline, complete with bird noises, and his assertion to the cast photographer that he "doesn't go right." Kevin Dillon continues to be one of the best things about this show. His Johnny Chase is such a unique mix of bluster and vulnerability and he nails it every time.

I am anxious to see what comes next for Vince and his posse. Hope you will all stick along for the ride.
