The All Out Fall Out
The easily-bruised egos of the various men of
Entourage were the center piece of tonight's episode and it made for some amusing moments. While I'm still patiently waiting for return of the laugh-out-loud lines of the early seasons, it does seem like we have finally moved past "Medellin." For that, I am grateful.
Mrs. Ari's outrageous anniversary Ferrari set the stage for a showdown between Ari and the increasingly loathsome Adam Davies. As the escalating practical jokes took a nasty turn, Ari was finally pushed over the edge when Davies tracked down some revealing photos featuring Mrs. Ari in an early acting gig. Watching Ari storm his former offices and confront the squirmy Davies was the treat of the night, especially when he gallantly declared, "Games are games, Davies...but that is the mother of my children." (Well, on second thought, it was probably a strong second to Ari being man-handled by those police officer strippers while Lloyd cheered with giddy delight.)
Meanwhile, as Ari enjoyed the aftermath of his resurgent manhood, Vince's confidence suffered a few more hits. First, his accountant informed him that bankruptcy might be in the offing. Then, in a desperate attempt to make some quick cash, he considered personal appearances as a money-making option only to be reduced to auditioning for a sweet sixteen appearance as the stand-in for an ailing
Zac Efron.
Fran Drescher was suitably obnoxious as the mother of the foul-mouthed, spoiled-rotten birthday girl, though this entire storyline reminded me of those too-horrible-to-be-believed teenagers on MTV's
Super Sweet Sixteen. Watching poor Vince stoop to serenading that over-sexed little tart was bad enough. Then, just as he and Johnny had almost won the crowd over with their impromptu duet, Johnny's over-indulgence got the best of him, all over the multi-tiered birthday concoction.
As Drama continued to wallow in his break-up misery, Eric was the only one who seemed to be having any good luck. Amanda shopped the script out to Edward Norton and he liked it, only wanting to change a few things- the title and the plot. What remains to be seen is how Eric's newest clients will handle the real Hollywood treatment.
Finally, as a I wrap up tonight, congratulations go out to the fantastically talented
Jeremy Piven, who grabbed his third Emmy tonight for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. As Drama would say, "Victory!"
