April 15, 2007: Ari Gold, You Are My Hero
In my estimation, there could be no better way to wrap up a very rainy weekend than to witness the spontaneous victory dance of Ari "Friend of the Gay Man" Gold and his ever-loyal assistant Lloyd. Sadly, their glee over signing "the Brad Pitt of television," was short-lived as it became painfully obvious that Lloyd was going to have to offer up more than his usual administrative skills to seal the deal with the lecherous Jay Lester (
Will Sasso). Even as Ari explained to Lloyd, "All great men have had to make great sacrifices at some point in their lives," I knew that in the end, Ari wouldn't let Lloyd take one for the team.
Jeremy Piven and
Rex Lee have such great chemistry and play off each other so well, I've started to find myself waiting for their scenes. (Click

While Ari was busy saving his soul, Turtle and Drama were discovering women's secret daytime lair - the dog park. Since "Mom and Dad" (aka Vince and Eric) were busy planning their couples getaway, Turtle and Drama were enjoying the advantages of dog ownership. Unfortunately, Arnold was more interested in the filet than companionship, and their entire plan spiraled out of control. I loved the fact that Turtle was so sensitive about the criticism leveled at "his brother in arms." What was even better was the fact that he called out his lady friend (Busy Philipps) for tossing Johnny's carefully marinated meat to the dogs. It's about time the boys show Johnny some love for keeping them well-fed.
As for Vince and Eric, the entire story line around their codependent friendship was, in my opinion, yawn-inducing. (No offense to
Emmanuelle Chriqui, but I kind of wish this Eric-Sloane relationship would just go away already.) As always, Vince got the last laugh as he jetted off to Cabo with Turtle and Drama for spring break while Eric faced a long, cold weekend in Napa. For my money, a trip to wine country with Turtle and Drama would probably be more romantic!
