March 5, 2007: The End of a Semester

It's really a shame that this was the final episode of the season for The Class. I really think it has hit its stride now. It seems like the writers have finally found the pairings that work and have been able to mix a slight bit of drama into the comedy (and do it well). I've been consistently entertained throughout the last month or two. Personally, I'm disappointed it's going to leave the lineup. Some good laughs before the 24 bloodbath have been good for my Monday nights.

We all talk a lot in this blog about the missing people from the show. Holly and Fern didn't show up again. Aaron finally came back, though that certainly could have been a hair double that Kyle was hugging at the end. The one person that never gets mentioned, however, is Penny! I completely forgot about Yonk's daughter. I probably said this the first time she showed up, too, but what did Yonk previously marry to produce that? I'm glad she's not full time as she's a one-joke, evil eating machine, but once every few months brings a few laughs.

Interesting twist with Kat now. First of all, she has a heck of an arm. She was really firing those grapes at Ethan. I loved his comment after the third one hit him in the neck, "seedless, not painless." Now, it was obvious she was going to hook up with Duncan when he invited her to hang out and wait for the gang, but it still adds a new dynamic to this. Will this simply be one drunken night or more?

I was also surprised to hear that Duncan bought a house. He was/is really serious about moving forward with Nicole. Funny, too, how the money for the house probably came from the repair job. So indirectly, Yonk is paying for the house that Duncan wants to live in with Nicole - if he sticks with it, of course. I guess I understand where Duncan is coming from with Nicole. He finally heard that the love of his life wants to be with him, and then she sort of retracted the statement. That has to kill him more now than before he knew she loved him back. But jeez, the guy just had a heart attack; give the girl some time to process the whole situation.

Lina and Richie were really cute in this episode, but six months! That's it? They are engaged after six months? There's no way Richie's divorce could even be final yet. But, I can picture them married, as I think they make a good couple. However, I can't picture Richie getting busy in a closet.

So, with that, it's over for freshman year. As a fan, I'm hoping we make it all the way through a second season as well, but I just get the feeling we won't. (Just my opinion, nothing official on that front).

Until next season, friends.
