PoV 7

I am having a very unexpected reaction to the nomination of Jen in place of Amber. I think it is disappointment? I am so conflicted. From Day 1, I have been very anti-Jen. It started with her ridiculous hysterics over her picture and has continued, pretty much unabated, for the entire game. However, seeing Jen get backdoored after tonight's PoV competition really felt wrong to me. (Maybe I am experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder over my beloved Kaysar's similar fate in Season 6.) Really, backdooring the strong player has always been the easy out since they can't fight for themselves at that point. I guess I feel like, despite her drawbacks, Jen has definitely proven herself to be a tough competitor. She has won competitions and she has managed to survive the hot seat three times. Will she make it through a fourth ride on Eviction Highway? That remains to be seen.

Tonight's PoV competition featured a special twist for the last two standing. They would be the lucky winners of a trip outside the Big Brother house. Despite her "visions" (don't even get me started), Amber only managed second place, but that was still good enough to win her the trip with golden girl Daniele, who really does seem to be picking up where Janelle left off. Though it all seems kind of lame to me, I guess if you are desperate enough for a break from the monotony, a trip to be contestants on the Drew Carey-hosted Power of Ten would sound pretty cool. The other HouseGuests should take heart. Even though they don't get to see Drew Carey, they do get a break from the tears and sanctimony of Amber for a few days. That seems like reward enough in my book.

Eric and Jessica seem to be enjoying their friendship and it is kind of sweet to see a budding romance that doesn't involve anyone cheating on their significant others. (At least as far as we know.) The two of them do seem to be a good fit for each other, and I am glad that America voted for the Woobie to go to Jessica. As I've said before, I'm not sure how she'll react to the whole America's Player angle whenever that gets uncovered, but I do think that Eric sincerely likes Jessica and the feeling seems to be mutual. I don't know if they will make it to the final two or not, but they strike me as people who will make the most of it either way.

There is one thing I noticed tonight that I'll throw out for discussion. It seems that Jen gets much less time in the diary room than just about all the other HouseGuests. Is it just me? I don't want to feed into any of the paranoid conspiracy theories about another pending twist, but it does seem odd to me that despite all the inanity that she spouts, Jen does manage to have moments of clarity that she often shares with just the right people at just the right time. Speaking of Jen, I don't think we should count her out just yet. She still has some game and, as we all know too well, stranger things have happened. Deals can be brokered, lies can be manufactured. All that is certain is that come Thursday, Dustin will have some company in the sequester house. I'm sure he is as curious as we are.
