May 22, 2007: The Aftermath
After 10 seasons of
The Bachelor and three seasons of
The Bachelorette,
Chris Harrison informed us tonight that only four couples are still together. In addition to our newest couple,
Charlie and Sarah are happily living together in Los Angeles; Byron and Mary are cozy in Texas and will wed in the fall; while
Trista and
Ryan have been married for four years and are expecting a little one at the end of the summer. And on a bittersweet note, my favorite bachelor of all time,
Andrew Firestone, recently proposed to his girlfriend, which sadly means he is once again off the market.
In years past, the reunion show meant we got to see all of the ladies one last time, as they rehashed their feelings with one another and fired uncomfortable questions at the bachelor. Tonight's gathering was much smaller and much more subdued, as we were only privy to seeing five of the original 25 women from this season.
Amber, Danielle and Steph T. were the first three to grace the stage with Chris. As these women were treated to a recap of their journeys on the show, I noticed that Amber seemed to be handling her flashback segment pretty well, while Danielle appeared really hurt during hers, and Steph, well, Steph kept pursing her lips in a way that made me think part of her was still as peeved as she was the night she got booted. If only we could have seen a Q&A segment with her and Andy - something tells me that would have been fun. Instead, we basically learned that all three women are looking forward to moving on with their lives.
Next, Bevin surfaced, or perhaps I should say
hobbled in. Yes, it looks like Bev really did manage to break her ankle after all. So not only does she have to wear a cast (albeit a really cool pink one), she's still obviously dealing with the hardship of letting Andy go. She choked up a number of times tonight as she spoke about the obvious chemistry she had with Andy and the confusion she still felt over what went wrong. Always taking the high road, though, she maintained that she was happy for Andy and Tessa and was eager to find her own true love.
When Tessa entered the scene, she appeared to be glowing. In between kisses with Andy, she spoke of the difficulty she had to endure by keeping the outcome of the show a secret from everyone, including her family. However, the topic of that rumored "confession" that allegedly took place between her and an undercover reporter a few weeks back was never mentioned. This would have been the perfect opportunity for Tessa to address that story, but she didn't. Instead she mentioned that she still had no idea what it means to be a military wife. Obviously, these two still have a long way to go before they swap vows.
So while we did learn a few more things about both Tessa and Andy tonight, one question still remains: Will they make it to the altar? They admittedly have not yet set a wedding date and from this point forward, it sounds like they plan on taking things
very slow. My thought is, if Tessa really does manage to make the move to Hawaii, these two might just make it down the aisle...
someday.
