"Natural Beauty"
This week, the
Top Model girls were tasked with the challenge of posing as Los Angeles' natural disasters, but ironically enough, a few of the girls' shoots were just disasters all in themselves!
Hey all, Gina here back from vacation and ready to recap. And just as an fyi, Tim has been banished to a far-far-away blog.
The challenge this week brought the models to construction site where Paulina pops out to greet them in an oversized skirt-suit. The gals put on their hot pink hard hats and tool belts (filled with shoulder pads, clips, etc.) and are asked to take an ill-fitting outfit look flattering from the front. As they race against clock, the girls stuff bottles, shoulder pads and whatever else the can find into their garmets while clipping every bit of loose fabric back. They all do decently in Paulina's eyes, but the slightest critique sends a very fragile Marjorie into a visible state of panic. Paulina confronts her about it and Marjorie turns on the waterworks. Her pep talk helped Marjorie a bit since she felt she could finally relate to someone, but some of the other gals weren't feeling the timid, boo-hoo routine. The winner of the prize of extra frames on the shoot went to McKey for some stealthy clipping and stuffing.
Back at the house, the girls ride Marjorie for being a Negative Nancy. Honestly, I have to agree with the other girls on this one because it ain't easy being around someone so down all the time — especially since she's one of the ones who takes really great photos. If she sucked it'd be one thing, but there's plenty of girls who need a lot more help than she does! Girl needs some meds to calm that anxiety before she breaks down.
For the shoot, the girls are greeted with an alien-monsterfied Jay (still failing to see the point of that) to tell them their challenge is posing for different LA natural disasters — all while decked out in '60s looks. Elina has earthquake and her fist thrust comes out pretty good in her photo. Sheena has sandstorm, gave I think it came out great (as did a few of the judges). Clark has blackout and she doesn't really put much thought in what the point of the shoot is. Lauren Brie has snowstorm and looks a bit stiff. Joslyn has rockslide and looks like she's selling the stone in her hand throughout the whole shoot. Analeigh has Santa Ana winds and really gets into it. McKey had heat wave and it receives mixed reviews (though I thought it was one of the best ones). Samantha gets tidal wave and she works creatively with the setting to really capture that meaning. Marjorie is traffic jam (um, one of these things is not like the other) and Jay had to "spoon-feed" her poses. And of course, despite Marjorie's "I'm such a failure" comments, I can't get over how amazing she looks in her final pic. For the love, can someone smack some confidence into that girl?
So the photo of the week goes to Samantha, and I have to say I think she deserved it this week. The bottom two — Joslyn who's "losing her fire" and Clark who is "good but not fantastic." So who goes? Clark! And it's only because "Joslyn's personality got her by this week" (and she's Ms. J's pet). Honestly, I thought Joslyn was a goner because the judges don't like the downward spiral from week to week, but then again, I'm not exactly tearing up that Clark got the boot. Was that tiara at the end necessary?
What did all you think of the episode and the disasters (themes
or the models themselves)? Did the right person win/go home? And what about Marjorie and neurotic overanalyzing? Let's hear your thoughts now!
