"Model Behavior"
This week, not one, not two, but three relationships officially crumbled in the span of one episode. And the Kelly-Dylan-Brenda love triangle has been reprised from the olden days leaving viewers wondering what Brenda is hiding.
The episode starts off where we left off last week with Adrianna and her mom meeting with Principal Harry, Kelly, Brenda and Ryan. In true intervention form, the accused, Adrianna, lashes out. But so does her whacked-out stage mom who is oblivious to the world and destroying her daughter in the process. Love how she actually suggested they lighten her work load when they suggested she lighten up on the auditions.
Annie, now the bell of ball at West Bev after her lead in the play, tells Ty to go to hell (not in those words) since she thinks he fooled around on her. Dixon and Silver can't seem to pull their lips apart much in this episode, but the loverboy does come up for air when Navid suggests he Annie, Dixon and Silver start double dating. Jealous bro doesn't go for it. Hmm…won't let his friend date his sister but is willing to give her a condom? Um, yeah.
In a change of pace, we finally get to see what Mama Debbie does with herself while the drama goes down at high school — and her gig is pretty glamorous considering her boss lets her shoot the Pacific Coast Fashion Show.
Meanwhile, while chatting with Kelly and Ryan, Brenda gets a call from Dylan who tells Kelly he's back states and in Wyoming (because water-loving surfer Dylan would definitely opt the ranch life). When Ryan confronts Kelly about the call, she tells him she can't carry on with their relationship — even if Ryan is willing to wait. But just as Ryan turns to leave, he has to throw in one last question to really get Kelly going. If Dylan called to talk to Kelly, why did he call Brenda's phone? Uh, oh. Just like high school!
Back in Adrianna's world, Ryan convinces Annie to take her along to help out with the fashion show so she can write up her paper on a career of interest in order to pass the class she's struggling with. Annie, being the sweet little do-gooder she is, takes her dad's advice and agrees since Adrianna is going through some rough times.
Naomi is plotting to — as Ethan put it best — play "Parent Trap" to get her now cougar-fied mom and dad back together. She does accomplish ruffling Gloria's feathers, but her dad basically tells her off at the fashion show and out comes the nostril flares and tears (dear god make her stop).
But that's not the only drama that went down at the fashion show. Annie is approached by producer who saw her play and offers her an audition. But Annie, again being the heart of gold she is (to the point of nausea now), talks up Adrianna and gets her a read for the part as well. It's pretty much all for nothing because once Adrianna confesses to her shower scandal, Annie is livid and Adrianna is convinced Annie's spying on her for her dad.
Back at the Taylor abode, Kelly point blank asks Brenda if she had something going on with Dylan, but Brenda says he looked her up and everything she told him was to protect her. They kiss and make up, and Brenda then heads to her car and delete Dylan's number with tears in her eyes. All I can say is: A. Why does she have to erase him from her life if there was never anything going on in the first place, and B. Why the tears over someone you've barely spoken to in ten years. Just getting emotional because he was her first love? I don't buy it.
Silver is approached by the show's client and is told she should consider modeling. But when Dixon tells her the money she could make, all she could think about is "feeding third world countries." (Yeah, a snarky comment on
that one would be just too easy). Turns out the dude, who's mantra is "age is a state of mind" just wants to get laid by a 16 year-old, but Dixon steps in, followed by mom. Some racially charged comments are made, and Dixon knocks the guy out.
When the show is over, Ty tells Annie Adrianna told him the truth, but Annie says she's not ready for the big "hotel room" night after all. And I guess rather than taking it slow considering how into each other they were all of a week ago, the two decide to become friends. Shortly after, another couple bites the dust when Naomi admits she's tired of pretending she and Ethan will be together for the long haul and call it quits. The night isn't a total wash, though. Ryan and Brenda must have really hit it off considering he's all about driving her home at the end of the evening. Wait, didn't tell Kelly
hours earlier she one of those girls who come around once in a lifetime? Dirtbag.
The episode comes to a close when we find Adrianna getting drugs from a new dealer and learning that Kelly and Sammy are off to Wyoming to visit Dylan, and Silver will be holding down the fort in the meantime (since she refuses to stay with Mel and his latest child-bride). After all, Kelly has to find out once and for all if Dylan has changed. I keep praying she comes back next week with Dylan in tow, but then reality sets in that Luke Perry is standing firm on the no-go for an appearance. Damn you Dylan! Come back! Sorry…just got a bit worked up for a second.
So, it was a pretty good episode, but really I am saying that namely because I can't get enough of the Kelly and Brenda scenes. Even the ones with Kelly and Ryan are entertaining I have to say. Some of the kiddies need work (*cough* Naomi) on making their stories appear more interesting, but all in all, they're managing to pull their weight (tee hee). What do you think about Brenda and Dylan? Think she bold-face lied to Kelly? Or how about Ryan coming on to Brenda hours after professing how much he adores Kelly? And how many more episodes do you think are left before Adrianna hits rock bottom and ends up in Promises? Let's hear your thoughts!
