Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown courtesy Warner Home Video
Nothing says "sweetheart" like the wistful pinings of a prematurely bald kid... at least when that kid happens to be one of the most beloved cartoon characters of all time. Originally aired in 1975, Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown features the usual cast of precocious youngsters, from Lucy and the oblivious object of her affection, Schroeder, to Linus, who is on a mission to find the perfect gift for his favorite teacher, Miss Othmar. The ever-popular Snoopy has no shortage of fans, as his mailbox full of valentines proves, while his owner waits for even a single red heart. Will Charlie Brown get the one valentine he truly wants, from the little red-haired girl? The disc also includes two bonus episodes: You're in Love, Charlie Brown and It's Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown, as well as a featurette called "Unlucky in Love: An Unrequited Love Story," which examines the love lives of the Peanuts gang and offers interesting perspective on creator Charles Schulz's own somewhat lovelorn life. Ultimately, though, this is a special that you probably enjoyed as a kid - and that your kids will probably enjoy just as much. - Nina Hämmerling Smith
