27 Dresses Blu-ray Review

The saying "Always a bridesmaid, never a bride" can be applied to Jane, a selfless friend that has been a bridesmaid 27 times, sometimes twice in one day. Imagine her surprise when her beautiful sister swoops into town and captures the heart of her boss, the man she's secretly in love with. The movie stars Katherine Heigl, Edward Burns, James Marsden and Malin Akerman.
Guys aren't supposed to like "Romantic Comedies," we're supposed to like action movies - anything with explosions and fighting. Here's a secret... I don't mind them at all, but I won't admit that to my girlfriend. See, I have a system; I pretend not to like a romantic comedy so we'll watch an action movie next time, and then she's happy because she "won," and I'm happy because I can enjoy the romantic comedy, followed by an action movie. We both win!
27 Dresses was a movie that we both wanted to see in the theaters (I secretly wanted to see it, she kept talking about wanting to see it), but we missed it for whatever reason. Heigl is quickly establishing herself as a comedic actress with this, and
Knocked Up; both movies have grossed over $145 million worldwide.
The Blu-ray release includes a widescreen (2.40:1) transfer (AVC codec at 34 MBPS), along with an English DTS 5.1 HD Master Audio track, and French Dolby Digital 5.1, plus subtitles in English, Spanish, Cantonese, Korean and Mandarin. The video quality was good, though this isn't the type of movie that demands an HD transfer due to the content (but it still looks great). Extras include "The Wedding Planner," a behind-the-scenes featurette; "You'll Never Wear That Again," a look at the various dresses used in the movie; "Jane's World," an interview with the production designer, and 3 deleted scenes. All the bonus material is presented in HD, unlike many other discs that simply port SD material to the HD release.
