Six is prescribed "talking cure" therapy, but does his best to resist having psychiatrists mess with his mind. He also learns he has an unusual occupation and a family that includes a brother and a sister-in-law, plus their two children. Six later encounters a woman who swears she once heard splashing from "the big water," and the two of them and his brother go in search of it.
