Part 1 of two. The life of Lucille Ball (1911-89) is affectionately recalled in an “American Masters” biography from 2000, which concentrates on her sitcom “I Love Lucy” (1951-57). In addition, a few clips from some pre-“Lucy” films and post-“Lucy” series are featured, along with a brief sketch of her marriage---on-screen and off---to Desi Arnaz.
