“An American Love Story,” Part 5 of 10. “Chaney and the Boy” focuses on Bill and Karen's younger daughter, who's not yet 13 and wants to go out with her first “very good friend.” Her roadblock: her father. “Bill's just very old-fashioned,” says Karen, who wants to know everything about the boy. Still, she sighs, “I want [my children] to remain babies forever.” Meanwhile, Karen's still sick, and it looks like she might need a hysterectomy.
