“An American Love Story,” Part 4 of 10. “It's Been Another Year and I Ain't Gone” sifts through the fallout from Cicily's semester in Nigeria (“something major had happened,” says Karen). One bit of residue: Cicily comes down with malaria over the Christmas holidays, when Bill's parents come to visit. “It took a while for things to settle down,” says Bill, of the household commotion and his life in general. “Family's the most important thing,” he adds. “Everybody else is just an acquaintance. You can't trust anybody but your family.”
