Episode Detail: Temple of the Tigers - The Living Edens
“Temple of the Tigers” chronicles a year at India's Bandhavgarh National Park, “one of the last strongholds of the royal Bengal tiger,” says narrator Frank Langella. Bandhavgarh was once the home of human royals, but the last maharaja left a half-century ago. The only human remaining is one Hindu priest, who watches over a shrine to the god Vishnu. The lord of the jungle: a 5-year-old male, whose mother is raising two new cubs, shares the jungle with jackals, deer, cheetahs, monkeys and dung beatles---“each creature a jewel on a necklace beaded to me,” says Langella, quoting Vishnu.
