African American Lives Episodes on PBS

The second-season premiere introduces the blacks whose genealogical histories will be explored, including Maya Angelou, author Bliss Broyard, Don Cheadle, Morgan Freeman, Tom Joyner, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Chris Rock and Tina Turner. Investigating the early 20th-century ancestors reveals, for Joyner, great-uncles who may have been unjustly executed. Further back, it's learned that Rock's great-great-grandfather served South Carolina's state legislature. Henry Louis Gates Jr. hosts.
