In “Chimp Minds,” host Alan Alda visits a Chicago zoo and a Florida primate sanctuary to see what the animals can learn and how they learn it. In Chicago, he and Lincoln Park Zoo primatologist Elizabeth Lonsdorf watch chimps use twigs to “fish” for treats in a synthetic termite mound (females pick it up much faster than males). And at Florida Atlantic University, Alda observes psychologist David Bjorklund's experiments to see whether chimps can “generalize a concept.”
