Episode Detail: Changing Your Mind - Scientific American Frontiers
Host Alan Alda explores “the malleability of the human brain” in this episode. In one segment, Alda's a sleep researcher's subject for an experiment exploring why dreams make sense. His memory is tested in another. And in a third, he's blinded for a few hours, while another subject is blinded for 100 hours. This test's purpose: to determine if brains can be “rewired.” Also examined: the case of a woman born with a damaged left hemisphere. The other half of her brain, it seems, has compensated for it.
