Episode Detail: Wind Raiders of the Sahara - National Geographic
Eight men unite whimsy and endurance to cross the Sahara in sailboats. The team of sailing experts navigates the world's largest desert in three-wheeled craft that streak across the dunes at speeds as high as 60 mph, exposing their drivers to the hazards of erratic winds, uneven terrain, scarce water and temperatures that rise above 100 by day and fall below freezing at night. Included is footage of a nomadic tribe of Moors caught in a drought. Leslie Nielsen narrates.
