Episode Detail: Air Force One - National Geographic
“Air Force One” tours the two 747 aircraft that narrator Michael Carroll calls “America's graceful ships of state.” The hour follows President Clinton on a 2000 trip to California and New Mexico, and charts the history of presidential air travel (it began in 1943, when FDR boarded a Dixie Clipper to meet with Winston Churchill in Casablanca). Also: comments from Presidents Carter and both Bushes, and insights from former LBJ aide Jack Valenti, who movingly recalls his first flight aboard Air Force One---on Nov. 22, 1963.
