“The Lives of Lillian Hellman” charts the life of the tempestuous writer (1905-84). “She loved getting into battles,” recalls Norman Mailer. Also interviewed: Jules Feiffer, Hellman companion Peter Feibleman; Warren Beatty; Art Buchwald; Walter Matthau; and biographers Carl Rollyson, William Wright and Bernard Dick. Also: clips from films Hellman wrote, including “Little Foxes” and “These Three” (which she adapted from her play “The Children's Hour”). Eli Wallach narrates.
