Episode Detail: Presidential Debate - Presidential Debate
President Bush and Sen. John Kerry meet in their second campaign debate. The site is Washington University in St. Louis and the moderator is “Good Morning America” coanchor Charles Gibson. The format is a town-hall meeting in which audience members ask the questions. This tripped up the first President Bush in 1992, but W. has a reputation for plain-speaking amiability that may serve him well tonight. As for Kerry, he honed his forensic skills in eight 1996 senatorial-election forums that were likened to the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates. Unlike Lincoln, Kerry won both the debates and the election.
