Episode Detail: Foyle's War III: They Fought in the Fields - Mystery!

“Foyle's War: They Fought in the Fields.” A German plane crash-lands, and not long thereafter a farmer is murdered. Foyle (Michael Kitchen) suspects a link. But first he must contend with a British POW-camp officer (James Wilby) who's more considerate of the prisoners than he is of the police, not to mention a mysterious man with a rucksack, a buried pig, several members of the Women's Land Army and an innkeeper (Stella Gonet) with a very low opinion of men.

Premise: Whodunits, courtroom dramas and suspense tales make up this often brilliant anthology. It features adaptations of tales by myriad classic mystery writers, from Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie to Dick Francis and John Mortimer, with such notable figures as Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, Adam Dalgliesh, Inspector Morse and Rumpole of the Bailey. Among its best episodes are several `Prime Suspect' cases (with Helen Mirren), which have also aired on `Masterpiece Theatre.'
