Episode Detail: Agatha Christie's Miss Marple: What Mrs. McGillicuddy Saw - Mystery!

Part 1 of two. “What Mrs. McGillicuddy Saw,” an old friend of Miss Marple's, Mrs. McGillicuddy (Pam Ferris), sees a young woman being strangled aboard a train. Trouble is, she saw it through her window on another train, and no body was found. After retracing the route, Miss Marple (Geraldine McEwan) concludes that it must have been dumped on the grounds of a run-down estate occupied by a viperously dysfunctional family. Premise: Whodunits, courtroom dramas and suspense tales make up this often brilliant anthology. It features adaptations of tales by myriad classic mystery writers, from Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie to Dick Francis and John Mortimer, with such notable figures as Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, Adam Dalgliesh, Inspector Morse and Rumpole of the Bailey. Among its best episodes are several `Prime Suspect' cases (with Helen Mirren), which have also aired on `Masterpiece Theatre.'
