“Foyle's War” returns with a second series of mysteries set on England's south coast in the early days of World War II. In Part 1of four, Foyle (Michael Kitchen) probes the death of an alcoholic found shot on the beach, an apparent suicide. Meanwhile, Foyle isn't looking forward to a dinner at the home of a one-time lover (Amanda Root) at which the guest of honor is a prominent American (Henry Goodman), who's a staunch proponent of lend-lease. And an air attack destroys the boardinghouse where Foyle's driver, Sam (Honeysuckle Weeks), has been staying. To make matters worse, the building is looted by auxiliary fire-service volunteers.
