“Murder Rooms: The Dark Origins of Sherlock Holmes” is a two-part puzzler about sleuthing surgeon Joseph Bell (Ian Richardson)---Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's mentor and his inspiration for the fictional detective. It's set in 1878 Edinburgh, where young Conan Doyle (Robin Laing) is beginning his medical studies under the intuitive, imperious Bell, whose forensic interest isn't confined to medicine. And when Conan Doyle applies Bell's technique to the case of a dead street fiddler, a deadly game is afoot.
