Episode Synopsis: “Foyle's War: A Lesson in Murder.” An 11-year-old evacuee from London staying with a Hastings judge (Oliver Ford Davies) is killed in a booby trap and Foyle (Michael Kitchen) has two theories to investigate. One involves the judge's refusal to allow his daughter (Sophia Myles) to see her working-class boyfriend (Elliot Cowan). The other involves a pacifist who died in prison not long after the judge denied his request for conscientious-objector status. Premise: PBS's longest running (and most honored) dramatic series is an Anglophile's delight, featuring British adaptations of literary classics and original works. The first `Masterpiece' was `The First Churchills,' and since then it has won nine Peabodys and 29 Emmys (beginning with Susan Hampshire's Best Actress award for `Churchills'). Its many memorable productions include `Upstairs, Downstairs,' `I, Claudius,' 'The Jewel in the Crown,' `House of Cards,' `Poldark' and `Prime Suspect.'
