Episode Synopsis: “The Forsyte Saga” (Part 2 of 8). Irene (Gina McKee) agrees to marry Soames (Damian Lewis) but tells him: “You must promise I would be free.” He doesn't live up to it. Meanwhile, Young Jolyon's daughter June (Gillian Kearney), now 17, has a beau, a penniless architect named Bosinney (Ioan Gruffudd), whom Soames hires to design a country house for Irene. He wants her out of London, where their loveless marriage is a topic of gossip. But he might not want to her to get too close to Bosinney. Original Air Date: Jan 1, 0001

Premise: PBS's longest running (and most honored) dramatic series is an Anglophile's delight, featuring British adaptations of literary classics and original works. The first `Masterpiece' was `The First Churchills,' and since then it has won nine Peabodys and 29 Emmys (beginning with Susan Hampshire's Best Actress award for `Churchills'). Its many memorable productions include `Upstairs, Downstairs,' `I, Claudius,' 'The Jewel in the Crown,' `House of Cards,' `Poldark' and `Prime Suspect.'
