Masterpiece Episode: "The Cazalets"

Episode Synopsis: Autumn 1941: The war grinds on and “The Cazalets” go on with their lives as this five-part drama concludes. Some Cazalet upper lips are less stiff than others, the pacifist Christopher's being the slackest---he has a nervous breakdown. Elsewhere, Sybil (Anastasia Hille) is dying of cancer, but Edward (Stephen Dillane) is more worried about the consequences of his affair with Diana (Anna Chancellor), who has bad news for him. And speaking of news, a visiting French officer has some for Clary (Florence Hoath). Original Air Date: Nov 19, 2001

Premise: PBS's longest running (and most honored) dramatic series is an Anglophile's delight, featuring British adaptations of literary classics and original works. The first `Masterpiece' was `The First Churchills,' and since then it has won nine Peabodys and 29 Emmys (beginning with Susan Hampshire's Best Actress award for `Churchills'). Its many memorable productions include `Upstairs, Downstairs,' `I, Claudius,' 'The Jewel in the Crown,' `House of Cards,' `Poldark' and `Prime Suspect.'
