Episode Synopsis: Derek's wife, Addison, a surgical superstar from New York, is in Seattle to perform a fetal-heart operation. Derek isn't pleased to see her, and Meredith is feeling very betrayed. Meanwhile, Derek and Burke have some superstar surgery of their own to perform. Cristina has something to tell Burke and, as it happens, Burke has something to tell Cristina. And Webber appoints George to be his “eyes and ears” while he's recovering from surgery. Original Air Date: Sep 25, 2005

Premise: Surgical residents at a Seattle teaching hospital hone their bedside manners on and off the job in this medical drama, which parlayed a cushy initial time slot (post-'Desperate Housewives') and a hefty dollop of sex and romance into immediate success. Indeed, in the opener, intern Meredith Grey sleeps with attending Derek ('McDreamy') Shepherd the night before starting work at Seattle Grace and discovers the next day that he's her boss. Their romantic ups and downs became the series' keystone.
