To no-one-who-watched-the-preview's surprise, Dean Cain was thrust into the role of villain of the week. Christopher Reeve got to play Clark's shifty, if brilliant, mentor and Cain gets stuck as the prototypical mad scientist? That isn't to say I didn't like the Jack the Ripper touch. Feels like the writers are finally paying attention to the audience again.Cain wasn't ill-suited to the role either; I was just hoping he'd show up as a character closer resembling his part on Lois & Clark than his stint on Law and Order: SVU.The bigger question is why Chloe is so desperate to shed her status as a meteor freak. As far as we've seen, her power is bringing people back to life by shedding tears over their dead bodies. Sure, she said she's afraid her power will lend her a permanent place in the morgue, but it's not like she can really manipulate her gift the way most freak-of-the-week villains have.
