Premise: The sun-and-fun adventures of a California teenager who has a passion for surfing, and a knack for landing in hot water. The series (based on the hit movies) launched the career of Sally Field (she did `The Flying Nun' the following year). A syndicated sequel (`The New Gidget') with a twentysomething and married Gidget appeared in 1986.
