Episode Detail: The Race - Gideon's Crossing

When the mayor of Boston (John A. Billingsley), a patient of Ben's, is diagnosed with cancer, he must weigh his treatment options in light of his planned Senate race. He's also concerned about the effect of certain treatments on his sex life. Meanwhile, Sid has trouble figuring out what's wrong with an 18-year-old (Michael Bacall) with a cough who "was told to answer no questions." And Wyatt (Eric Dane) and Ollie (Rhona Mitra) share an edgy on-call flirtation while Wyatt's wife is in Germany.

Premise: A failed but provocative medical drama about a fiercely principled chief of experimental medicine at Boston's Metropolitan General, a prestigious teaching hospital. Intelligently written and with a superb lead performance by Andre Braugher (sandwiched between his roles on `Homicide: Life on the Street' and `Hack'), the series deserved far better than a one-season run.
