The Ghost Whisperer Producers: A Mysterious New Presence

Hey!

So we're nearing the end of our first week in production, and what a week it's been. If you walked across the Universal Lot today, you would be stunned by the activity of the construction workers, cranes — beeps and horns, and dust, and a blur of hardhats, including ours — every time we walk out on Grandview's newly built town square. You'll notice a new edition to the town square: a gazebo. We used it on the Warner Brothers Lot while the Universal Lot was "indisposed." It worked so well for us in scenes with Melinda, Jim, Eli, Delia and Ned that we decided to install one in our newly built old town square. And don't worry, the iconic soldier statue isn't going anywhere. It's also on the square.

Since last you checked in with us, Love has been tackling shoot days like the pro that she is. She's a triple threat here in Hollywood — Love is an executive producer, director and the star of the series; tough to top that!

Speaking of executive producers, don't forget to check out P.K. Simonds' new blog. He and our crack writing team are working fast and furious in the writers room and he's sharing some inside info at www.pksimonds.com.

We've had an adorable (and mysterious!) new presence on the set this week with our newest character add, and we're happy to tell you that it's working beautifully. Can't wait for you to see the film. Speaking of that, Mark Steines and his Entertainment Tonight crew were with us Wednesday shooting behind-the-scenes video of Ghost Whisperer Season 5. We'll give you a heads up on when that interview will run so you can check it out.

Now, on to some exciting fashion news. Ghost Whisperer's very own costume department was selected to display its fashion designs in the Fourth Annual Outstanding Art of Television Costume Design Exhibition at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising Museum. Congratulations Dorothy Amos and team! Ghost Whisperer will have Melinda and the rest of our cast of lead characters' high-fashion clothing on display, as well as showcase how our costume designer creates the looks for all our earthbound spirits. If you're in the Los Angeles area, we hope you'll stop by the exhibit, which will run July 29 through Sept. 6.

If you're not local, check the above link the first week in September because they are sure have posted video showcasing Ghost Whisperer as well as some of the amazing costumes created for other outstanding television shows.

And, if you haven't had enough Ghost Whisperer fashion, pick up the Season 4 Ghost Whisperer DVD set which will hit the stores on Sept. 22.

In Season 4, the Book of Changes hinted to the possibility that Melinda's baby will have special powers that even surpass his mom's! Well, we can't reveal how that will work right now, but we can let you know that our production designer, Mayling Cheng, is designing something exquisite for the baby's nursery! For all you expectant mothers, be sure to check it out in the premiere episode of Season 5, which will air Sept. 25 at 8 pm, on CBS!

If you're one of the lucky fans who is converging on San Diego for Comic-Con 2009, you're in for a treat! Join the cast and executive producers of Ghost Whisperer on Sunday, July 26, for a fan panel and exclusive first look at footage from our new season. Fans will be able to ask questions of the stars and executive producers about what's happening this season. We assure you, Ghost Whisperer is throwing open doors to a whole new paranormal dimension because...the spirit world is getting stronger. For more details, check out http://www.comic-con.org/cci/ .

Florida fans! Check out Jamie Kennedy in person as his comedy tour makes a stop in Ft. Lauderdale. Treat yourself to a hilarious show during any of the following club dates found here: http://www.jamiekennedyworld.com/dates/ .

And, in this week's episode, "Double Exposure," Melinda (Jennifer Love Hewitt) tries to figure out the identity of a ghost haunting a photography professor friend of Payne. During her investigation, Melinda discovers a twisted love triangle between the professor, a student and the student's girlfriend. But Melinda has trouble understanding who is dead and who is still alive.

The Ghost Rule in this episode is: Spirit orbs are sometimes visible in photographs because cameras detect a broader spectrum of energy than the human eye. This episode — which answers some of the questions you have about spirits in photography — was written by Laurie McCarthy (now serving as executive producer) and directed by Eric Laneuville.

Musically, this episode features "Last Request" by Paulo Nutini, "Ashes & Wine" by A Fine Frenzy and "11.22" by Buddy.

Ghost Whisperer will take the television airwaves by storm with a surprising premiere episode that kicks off the new season and leads into Medium.
