This Is the Week!

Hello there, good people, and thanks for checking out the blog! I have gotten a few comments and I just want to say that I appreciate the compliments both on the blog and on my previous work. It means a lot to me that people out there have followed my career. But more than that, I want to say your budding enthusiasm for Hidden Palms is fully justified. I think you guys are gonna love it! My first blog was a little indulgent insofar as it chronicled my personal experiences associated with getting to work on Hidden Palms. So now I'm going to be a little more generous and talk about the basic premise of the show, the experience of shooting the pilot and, of course, my fellow cast-mates. So let the dirt-slinging begin!

So some of you have asked about the premise of Hidden Palms. It's a classic coming-of-age story, unique to our times and distinctive in that it comes wrapped in the particularly arch intelligence of a Kevin Williamson project. Those of you who have never seen or heard of Dawson's Creek or the Scream movies... well, just watch Hidden Palms and enjoy. The rest of you may continue in the conversation! Hidden Palms starts out with a troubled young man, Johnny Miller (Taylor Handley) from Seattle. Things did not go well for young Johnny in the Pacific Northwest and hence his Mom, Karen Hardy (Gail O'Grady), and new step-father, Bob Hardy (me), have picked up lock, stock and barrel and moved to the color saturated, overly hot (in all senses of that word) world of Palm Springs, California. That's when the fun starts. Johnny's next-door neighbor is a nut, his neighbor's mom is really nuts and the girl across the street is a freak. And the pretty girl hasn't even shown up yet! Just wait till she does. Oh, and there may or may not have been a murder. Are you hooked yet?

If I had to say what the biggest thrill of the show is gonna be... well, let's put it like this Let's say you're walking along minding your own business and you turn a corner and see something that suddenly sets your heart pounding and the skin on the back of your neck tingling. Your heart starts racing, your palms are a little sweaty and you're breathing fast, but you can't pinpoint exactly what it is that's making you feel this way. Something is off and you can't explain it, but for some reason, you just find it completely creepy.

That's what I'm talking about. That's what you are gonna get in spades! Feel that little tingle on the back of your neck? It's starting already My next blog will deal specifically with the shooting of the pilot (airing May 30th) and getting to know and appreciate my cast-mates. Hint: this shoot was 100 percent jerk-free!

'Til then, D.W.
