Hey again -
I hope you all enjoyed the first two episodes of
and are waiting with baited breath for another installment. Well, let the hour-by-hour countdown begin because Tuesday is finally here!
Thinking about the first of this week's episodes (Episode 102: "Team Chemistry"), I immediately go to this one scene at the bar (go figure) where Kenny (Mike Bunin) and Mike (Jamie Kaler) are having a tiff. Mike is jealous because Kenny is spending more and more time with Bobby (Kyle Howard). They actually improvised a lot of that scene. The dialogue was very funny as it was, but they just kept building on it. They seemed to make it snarkier with each take until they ended it on Bunin's ad-libbed line, "Drink until you like yourself," and Kaler's response, "That's a lot of drinks."
Jamie and Mike are great improvisers together. Mike has been a regular performer at the Improv Olympic West for eight years. You can actually catch his show every Saturday night if you are in the Los Angeles area. He is also the drummer for an Irish comedy band called The Mighty Regis Philbin. (You can look them up through MySpace under the band's name.)
Jamie is a well-known stand-up comic here in Los Angeles. You can find out about his upcoming gigs on his MySpace page (under Jamie Kaler). I highly recommend seeing any of their shows.
The second episode that we will be airing for your viewing pleasure is called "The Slump." In a nutshell, the gang is down and out because none of us can score a date. This episode was actually the first episode we shot after we shot the piIot. I really like the performance of one our guest stars, Adam Kulbersh, in this episode. He has only one monologue in the whole show, but he kept cracking everyone up each time he did it. Just a really funny, good guy.
Anyway, I hope you check out this week's new episodes - and, if you don't, that you at least set your TV to TBS before you go off and do whatever it is you're doing.
My best to you,
