"Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society." Mark TwainClothing sometimes does make the man/woman/ superhero.Don't you have an outfit or jacket that make you feel like you own the world? You are winning the game before you ever set foot in the stadium if your outfit is right. Certain clothes make you feel a certain way.Same thing happens on the days when it is wrong. Ever had one of those "not so cute" days? You know, the ones when no matter what you wear nothing feels right? It happens to the best of us.We all went out last Saturday to celebrate Bret Harrison's (Sam) birthday. It was a 14-hour Bret-fest that began with a day at an amusement park/ arcade where most of the 15 adults in our group were dressed as miniature golf pros. Tyler Labine (Sock) wore some slick, white leather loafers that he'd purchased in England, which he said had a brand name like "Ask Your Wife." Tyler was playing at semi-pro mini golf level in those shoes. Bret, whose...

Hey, it's your favorite drunken redhead here, from the corner of the office. What an interesting time for our show. We have had another great week of pretending to work in a paper factory. And when I say "We" I mean ME! The scripts just get funnier and funnier. This past week we' worked with Jeff Blitz directing. Jeff directed the "Convict" episode from last season, remember? He is an Academy Award winner for a short film he did in 2007. We have the best directors. Our show's exec producer, Greg Daniels, said he should submit this new episode for an Academy Award. Now, we all know you can't submit a TV show for an Academy Award. (Creed just explained that to me at the water cooler.) Awards are weird. We have the fans to tell us how important we are. I have two SAG Awards on my mantle, for Best Ensemble. The show won an Emmy for Best Comedy last year. The producers are the only ones that get to keep the Emmy. Steve Carrell has won a Golden Globe for playing Michael Scott, but he has...

"Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive." Anaïs Nin Life imitating TV?Ever so often I speculate about the unusual experiences that I have been afforded by my career choice. Earlier today, we were filming in a real apartment belonging to some private citizen that allowed our show to rent it out so that we could pretend that it was mine well, Josie's apartment. Tons of people with heavy equipment marched in and out adjusting lights and furniture to make this real home look more "realistic" on camera. It began to hail for about an hour but we still had to leave many windows and doors open as our crew set up.When the episode airs, it will be mid-spring, which means sunny days in most places, so we ignored our goosebumps and chattering teeth while pretend to be warm and comfy. It's all part of the job. Acting like it's springtime. A few feet away, Tyler [Labine] stood in a doorway, scantily clad while 30 or so stra...

This weeks episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is about the gift of giving and how one family inspired a whole community to give big! Located on the northern Gulf of Mexico is the warm and friendly port town of Mobile, Alabama. Its the type of place where neighbors treat each other like family and barbequing on the weekends is the norm. However, due to its geographical location, Mobiles subtropical climate is prone to major storms and hurricanes. In 2005, the city was struck by Hurricane Katrina, one of the most deadly hurricanes in the history of the Unites States. Hurricane Katrinas 175 mph winds tore apart towns across seven states destroying much in its path. This category five Hurricane left thousands of people homeless, animals displaced, and tragically took 1,836 lives. The town of Mobile was just one of many communities devastated by its deadly blow. Steve and Lydia Gaudet and their six boys Joseph, Christopher, Thomas, Patrick, Michael,...

"There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so." — William Shakespeare, Hamlet 1600Returning to Vancouver after the strike was marked with greatness. I'd decided it would be. Of course I packed a lot. My luggage bore a big day glow orange sticker proclaiming my need to roll "HEAVY." When the show finished filming in December, my cast mates and I scrambled to ship and carry as much of our stuff back from Vancouver as was possible. I kept my apartment in spite of the possibility of a long enduring strike. I was trying my best to keep hope alive. I love Reaper, my job, and the city of Vancouver. I just kept picturing returning to my awesome apartment. Since so many TV shows and movies film in Vancouver, the first class sections of most daily flights are great for celebrity sightings. On this flight I was seated next to a woman who was sooooo blinged out, with big sunglasses and an expensive sweat suit, that she was begging to be noticed. She was smiling and chattin...

Dunder-Mifflin fans, unite! The paper company is returning to regular work. It is I, Meredith, the drunken redhead in the corner. We have some catching up to do. Here's hoping you are not as drunk as I am. I am a pro. As Tom Cruise once said to Jack Nicholson, "You can't handle the booze!" St. Patrick's Day is fast approaching and I have a lot to drink to.St. Pat's day has always been a big holiday for me and my family because my family owns a bar. If you are in Philadelphia, our bar is T.A. Flannery's on 21st Street. Have a drink and don't worry! You can have a drink and catch up!The Office has a lot of catching up to do also. We are back at work after that nasty fake vacation that some people called a strike. Everyone is so grateful to be back. We were out late the other night shooting at "Michael's condo" for the "Dinner Party" episode. The episode is hilarious! NBC staff photographer Chris Haston (who just so happens to be my boyfriend) was working that night taking pictures, no...

Hello!Well, this week's show is one of our favorites, "Bad Blood." It's scary, theatrical, and fun. We call it our "haunted house" show. The house where it was shot is on the Universal back lot and was originally built for the musical film Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, which starred Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds. You may recognize some of our guest stars: Alan Ruck of Spin City and Ferris Bueller's Day Off; Kay Panabaker of Summerland; and Kathleen York from The West Wing. The music is fun and in addition to Mark Snow's quirky score it features Ben Lee's Love Me Like The World Is Ending" (New West records), and Two Hours Traffic's "Better Never Than Late."As an interesting aside when you see the ending of the show, there is an explosion, which was originally planned to be bigger, but the California fires were still burning when we shot the show and we felt we should be more conservative rather than go all out with a giant "fireball."This week is the posting of the last...

How about change? Do we all have the ability to embrace change?Well, my friends, it is not important to answer that for anyone other than ourselves as individuals. This week's episode illustrates there are many who believe change is possible.Set in the hills of Fairmont, West Virginia, Richard and Angie Turner are ideal role models of what it means to 'turn your life around for thebetter.' Throughout their youth, life dealt the couple extreme challenges that could have very well set them far from where they are today. However, through much strength and determination both Richard and Angie's lives are now dedicated to helping and educating people to lead a healthier life through positive change. When the couple married in 2003, Angie and her children Desmond, Theresa, and Tyron learned first hand what it means to embrace change by opening up their hearts and home to Richard and his daughter Layton. However, their compassion didn't stop there. The couple soon adopted Richard's 13-year-...

This week we're in Farmville, Virginia to meet the Lucas family: Michael, his wife Jean, and their two boys, Michael and Joe. Michael and Jean have been happily married for many years, and life has been going very well. Michael loves his country, and he enlisted in the National Guard. Then, lo and behold, he got the call and had to get up and go and leave his family behind. The story this week is really about all of those parents, husbands, wives and children who are left behind when their loved ones go to fight for our country. Regardless of what's going on, or where they're at in their lives, they get up and go to defend us. Jean stayed back with the two boys, and they stayed in a rental, and the rental was pretty rough, but they were making due because they knew one day they'd be in their dream house. She's pretty amazing herself; she never expected to be raising those two boys by herself, and when Michael left that was the reality. It's not easy raising two boys on your own. Mic...
