Episode Recap: The LineHeroes has never made me lose interest, but it did get off to a slow start. I knew tonight would be a good episode. OK, I hoped tonight would be a great episode. It was the lead-in to November sweeps. However, I didnt want to set my expectations too high. Ive noticed a growing trend with network television: they build up the months of November, February and May for Nielsen ratings, and then leave us hanging. Sometimes, the episodes that air during those sweeping months live up to the abundance of promos, previews and annoying scroll lines under everything you watch. Other times, a ferry crashes and we are left with the letters WTF on our minds. That being said, lets recap.Weve all been through high school hell, and Ive watched the genius of Tina Fey's Mean Girls, but do people like the cheerleading captain really exist? If so, then she got what she deserved. (When she wrote the number of pounds to lose on the girls' f...

Episode Recap: "Fight or Flight"What would you do if you were faced with your greatest fear?It was around this time last season that Eden sacrificed herself. I was shocked when she fought against Sylar and managed to take her own life before he could steal her power. Tonight, Ricky sacrificed himself as well. He may not have stuck his finger into a socket on his own, but he did lie to protect Peter and his sister. In the end, he paid with his life. He literally was toast." So, Peter and Elle have met before. Also, the box? A passport and ticket to Montreal! Thats it? I really thought there would be more to it.I am a Veronica Mars fan. So, I was psyched to finally see Kristen Bell tonight. Sadly, I was a bit disappointed. Maybe its my own fault; my expectations were too high. I know her character is going to get interesting, but when? The list of questions continues: Who is her father? Is she good, evil or confused? Do she and/or her father work for The Company? Wh...

The 30-year-old actor talked to TV Guide about his sudden rise to fame, the "new" Sylar and becoming a young Spock.TV Guide: A year ago, you were just another jobless Hollywood actor. Now you're starring on the white-hot hit Heroes and playing young Spock in the next Star Trek movie. Are you sure you're not dreaming all this?Zachary Quinto: It's all very dreamlike, though Trek is feeling less so as it draws nearer. We're getting ready to shoot in a month, and I just had my first fitting for my Vulcan ears. It felt incredible, and in that moment there was a huge shift for me. Suddenly it was real, and I was like, "OK! Let's get this thing going!"TV Guide: In a wild twist on Heroes, your serial-killer character, Sylar, has lost his powers. Will this help humanize the ...

Will this be the last we see of Mr. Nakamura? George Takei by Chris Haston/NBC
Episode Recap: "Four Months Later...." (September 24, 2007)Of all the shows I follow, this was the premiere that had me fidgeting in my cubicle all day. I have never missed an episode. I nearly fell out of my chair when I received an email this past summer, saying that I would be the new Heroes blogger. This blog is important to TV Guide and Heroes fans alike. I myself used to read it every Tuesday morning before and after meeting my co-workers around the Heroes water-cooler. Needless to say, I hope I live up to all of your expectations, because this show just gets better and better!First off, the symbol. You know what Im talking about - the RNA strand that pops up everywhere. Tonight, it was painted in red on Mrs. Petrelli and Mr. Nakamuras (may he rest in hero peace) torn photos, drawn by Molly, fashioned around Peters (he lives!) neck and carved within the handle of the famous Kensei/Hiro sword. So, what exactly does it mean? One known fact: When you receive a p...

Question: You hinted last week that Zachary Quinto's role as Spock in the Star Trek feature might mean "losing Sylar for a chunk of the season." Are they killing Sylar off? Or will he return when Quinto is done with Star Trek?
Answer: I think what you're asking is, "Will Spock kill Sylar?!" And the answer is no. Quinto will return to Heroes after wrapping Trek — and mostly likely just in time for the season finale in April.

Question: Zachary Quinto as Spock? Love it!
Answer: Yeah, I think that's been the general consensus. Even Heroes bossman Tim Kring is thrilled by the nifty piece of casting — although it probably means losing Sylar for a chunk of the season. "I was actually involved with this happening," he says. "Damon Lindelof and J.J. Abrams and I are friends, and we discussed this many months ago. There were a couple of behind-the-scenes phone calls and conversations and we were able to work it out."

Michelle Ryan, Skeet Ulrich, Masi Oka and Matt Dallas by Sean Smith/jpistudios.com
At the 38th Annual Comic-Con International, fans of the sci-fi and fantasy genres proved they're no longer on the fringe. The mammoth convention, held this past weekend at the San Diego Convention Center, attracted more than 125,000 people, and in a nod to the fact that the event has gone far beyond comic books, it has billed itself as "celebrating the popular arts." Movie studios and TV networks packed huge rooms with rabid fans eager for exclusive scoop and swag.On the first day it was officially confirmed that Zachary Quinto, Heroes' slithery villain Sylar, will indeed be playing Spock in the next Star Trek movie (opening Dec. 25, 2008). Director J.J. Abrams made the announcement during a Paramount Pictures panel, and in a symbolic passing of the ears, Leonard Nimoy, who originated the role on TV and in previous movies and will play an elder Spock in Abrams movie, joined the discussion. "People have been asking me why Im doing this movie," Nimoy said. "We have a great...

You'd swear that Comic-Con International was the TCA press tour the way news poured out of it over the weekend. The highlights: Lost genius J.J. Abrams confirmed that he's cast Heroes' Zacharo Quinto as a young Spock in his upcoming Star Trek prequel and has signed the Vulcan's original portrayer, Leonard Nimoy, to appear in the film as well. The New York Post adds that William Shatner is in talks to cameo as Cap'n Kirk. An HD-DVD collection of Star Trek: The Original Series is being released on Nov. 20 in a set of 10 two-sided discs. (The high-def version of the classic series will be on one side of the discs, with the standard version on the other.) Extras include the new visual effects, CGI and re-recorded score that are currently being featured in the syndicated version of the show, plus a 3-D self-navigated shuttle tour of the NCC-1701, a "Starfleet Access" interface with on-screen icons that offer additional data, the ubiquitous trivia, new video interview...

Leonard Roberts by Michael Muller/NBC
Just back from the TCA-sponsored press event on the Heroes set with scoop galore. Let's get right to it. Lyndsy Fonseca is out as Claire's gay cheerleader pal. No, not out like that. She's out as in, off the show. According to Heroes creator Tim Kring, Fonseca's role had to be cut short after she landed that series-regular gig on Desperate Housewives. "She wasn't a pivotal character," Kring says of Claire's pal, who will now appear in just one episode. "The idea was that that part would grow, but it never got a chance to." The entire cast was present with the exception of Leonard Roberts (D.L.), although Kring cautioned reporters not to necessarily "read anything into that." Well, considering this is the second Heroes press conference Roberts has bailed on this summer, I'm guessing D.L. is a goner. New Hero Dania Ramirez revealed that when we first meet her character, Maya, "she's on the run from the cops." Zachary Quinto was neither confirming nor denying re...
