Former newspaperman Pete Martin (Paul Kelly), now with military intelligence, goes undercover to investigate women who have been committing fraud by entering into multiple marriages with U.S. military personnel in order to claim their spousal pay allotments. Pete discovers that a racketeering outfit is running the scam, with chic ringleader Sheila Seymour (Kay Francis) attempting to prevent her daughter, Connie (Teala Loring), from participating.

Mr. Wise Guy (the eighth in the East Side Kids series) finds the gang sent to the Wilton Reform School. Bill Collins (Douglas Fowley) becomes involved in a killing and, while also innocent, is convicted and sentenced to death. Through a series of events, the rest of the gang learns that Knobby (Billy Gilbert), a henchman of Luke Manning (Guinn Williams), knows something about the murder.
